About Downhill Daily

A one-button downhill run through the trees. Switch your carve to thread between pines, rocks and logs, chain flag gates into a combo, and spin off ramps. Everyone gets the same mountain each day, so you are racing the whole site, and your own best run rides alongside you as a ghost.

Play Downhill Daily free directly in your browser - no download, no login, and no installation required. Available on Classroom Connect alongside hundreds of other free racing games.

A Classroom Connect original

Downhill Daily is the first game built and hosted by Classroom Connect itself. It is not embedded from another site: it runs from this domain, it has no third-party ads in the game, and it loads in a second because the whole thing is a few small files of plain browser code. It was made to play well on a school Chromebook, a phone or a laptop, with a single input doing almost all of the work.

One button, one mountain

You are always carving one way or the other. Press Space, click or tap anywhere to switch direction, and your rider swings across the slope in a smooth arc. Tap quickly and you zigzag almost straight down the fall line, which is fast but leaves little room for error. Hold a carve and you cut across the hill, which bleeds speed and buys you time to line up the next gap. Keyboard players can also use the left and right arrow keys to choose a direction directly.

The run ends the moment you hit a tree, a rock, a fallen log or the forest at the edge of the piste. There is always a clear way down: every mountain is generated around a hidden safe line, so a crash is a misjudged turn rather than an impossible wall.

Ice, deep snow and ramps

The surface changes as you descend. Pale blue ice patches are fast but slippery: your board keeps sliding in the direction you were already travelling, so set your line before you reach them rather than trying to turn on them. Deep powder, the lumpy white patches, slows you down and throws up spray. Neither will end your run on its own, but both change how far ahead you need to think.

Blue ramps launch you into the air. While you are flying you cannot steer, but you can tap to spin a full rotation. Land a spin cleanly for a big bonus, multiplied by your current combo. Start a spin too late and you will still be mid-rotation when you touch down, which ends the run. At higher speeds you stay in the air longer and a double spin becomes possible.

Gates and combos

Pairs of flags mark gates down the mountain. Ride between them to score 50 points times your combo, and each clean gate raises the combo by one, up to five. Miss a gate and the combo drops back to one. Gates sit close to the safe line, so chasing them is also the best way to find a route through the trees.

The daily mountain and your ghost

Every day at midnight UTC a new mountain is generated, numbered from Mountain #1, and every player gets exactly the same course. That makes your score directly comparable with anyone else's that day, and the Copy result button gives you a short line to share. Your best run on today's mountain is saved in your browser and replayed as a translucent blue ghost, so each retry is a race against yourself. Free ride gives you a brand new random mountain every time if you want to practise without the pressure.

Tips for a longer run

Look well below your rider, not at it. The camera keeps most of the screen ahead of you, and the riders who last longest are reading the next two gaps while they carve through the current one. Short, regular taps keep your speed up and your position central. Save the long cross-slope carves for when you need to shift the whole line across the piste, and never arrive at an ice patch pointing at a tree. The course narrows and speeds up the further you go, so a good first 500 metres is about building a combo, and everything after that is about survival.
